Olu Deniz

Olu Deniz was originally a small village on the south west coast of Turkey, situated between the Taurus mountains and Mediterranean Sea. In recent years, it has been developed into a tourist resort, although its national park status means that this has been done very sympathetically.

Set in a narrow valley, the resort climbs upwards towards the mountain range, overlooking the superb blue lagoon and pine forests below.

Olu Deniz has arguably one of the most beautiful, blue flag beaches in the world, with gentle sandy slopes dropping down into calm, turquoise water – absolutely ideal for small children. Pine trees shad e some areas of the beach, so there is always somewhere to rest, safe from the hot sun.

Famous for its watersports activities, the resort is regarded as one of the best places in the world to paraglide, particularly from the high Babadag Mountain.

You won’t find a wide selection of designer shops here, but there are several quaint markets, where you can perhaps find something unique, at a fraction of the price you would normally pay in the cities.

Similarly, if you’re looking for rowdy nightlife, Olu Deniz isn’t the place for you. Geared towards families, most of the larger hotels run their own entertainment programmes, although there are several bars in the resort if you feel like exploring the area.

There are several restaurants which cater principally for British tastes, and have child-friendly menus.

Olu Deniz is particularly favoured by British families, who are attracted by its beauty, tranquillity and safe waters. However, there are always cheap, last minute deals to be found here.
